Tom Smith’s singing and writing instantly clicked with the song we wrote

‘This Life’ (feat. Tom Smith) is true to Tinlicker’s gradual move to a “more organic sound”. Their melodic prog house, temple block percussion introduces Smith’s soul-stirring, world-weighted voice whose mournful lyrics duet with sustained, heart-catching synth chords and sorrowful, singing guitar sounds which lend an emotional, indie vibe. A powerful standalone single, and a vital part of the album to come with its wide range of sounds and voices.

“It’s magical that when you grow older life can still be full of surprises… Like receiving vocals from the singer of a band (Editors) we’ve been long-time fans of. Signing with [PIAS] Électronique made it possible to work together, and Tom Smith’s singing and writing instantly clicked with the song we wrote. Fittingly enough, ’This Life’ became our bright new single.’ Watch the Visualiser video here:

The beauty of Julia’s vocals and Nathan's songwriting with our soundscapes capture this moment

As well as singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Smith, other notable vocalists on Cold Enough For Snow include Placebo’s Brian Molko, renowned Boxer Rebellion’s singer/songwriter Nathan Nicholson, UK indie rock band Circa Waves and Julia Church, who recently collaborated on Tinlicker’s ‘Slipstream’.

‘Slipstream’ has a breathy, echoing vibe, a full song with Church’s strong but yearning voice delivering heartfelt lyrics over a deceptively simple melodic house beat starred with entrancing raindrop guitar notes. An arresting, stop-and-listen track to also captivate dancefloors.

‘Slipstream’ was written and produced with Nathan Nicholson. They all felt the track “needed a female singer and Julia’s very special, edgy voice became the one for us. ‘Slipstream’ has this melancholic feeling, the urge that you want something, but you can’t reach it. The beauty of Julia’s vocals and Nathan’s songwriting with our soundscapes capture this moment”.

Having conquered London’s Roundhouse this year, Tinlicker will be back with a tour in 2024. Returning to the UK, they will play at the legendary venues Troxy (London), Marble Factory (Bristol) and Mandela Hall (Belfast).  The EU dates include the iconic Gashouder (NL), Elysee Montmartre (Paris), Magazzini Generali (Milan), Vicar Street (Dublin), Live Music Hall (Cologne) and Fabrik (Hamburg).
