Rising slo-mo pop star Morgan Harper-Jones makes her long awaited return with single 'Forever For Now' via Play It Again Sam.

Rising newcomer Morgan Harper-Jones releases a new single, ‘Forever For Now’, available today through Play It Again Sam. The new track is the follow-up to Morgan’s 2022 EP While You Lay Sound Asleep, produced by Luke Smith (Foals, Depeche Mode) and featuring co-writes with Eg White (Adele) and Keaton Henson.

Hailing from Rochdale, Morgan was raised between both sets of her Grandparents (her mother’s mother the owner of a record stall and her father’s father a keen musician who wrote songs for each member of the family). Their tastes in turn shaped Morgan’s own anachronistic love for the likes of Joni Mitchell’s Blue, Patsy Cline and Motown classics (with the telly permanently tuned either to Norman Wisdom films or 70s sitcom classic George & Mildred). Early experiments with songwriting and performing soon followed – with Morgan’s reference points later suffused with more contemporary touchstones including Andy Shauf, Aldous Harding and Adrianne Lenker – eventually leading to full-time music studies at Manchester’s BIMM Academy.

Lilting new single ‘Forever For Now’ belies its emotional heft, driven by Morgan’s ease for tracing quiet devastation with hushed, sincere songwriting. Speaking about the new track, Morgan notes;

“At the time I wrote it, I thought ‘Forever For Now’ was a love song to reassure someone that you think they’re amazing, but you’re pretty chilled about where things are going. But a year after writing it it feels like quite a fearful song. It’s adoring someone and feeling safer than you’ve ever felt with anyone before, but you’re still not ready to commit to a relationship or allow yourself to let go and rely on someone else, or be loved.”
