Pop Conniseur CHILDE ANNOUNCES SEPTEMBER DEBUT ALBUM ‘STONED & SUPREMELY CONFIDENT’ ALONGSIDE LATEST SINGLE ‘BETTER FRIENDS’.
Modern storyteller and pop connoisseur, Childe, announces his 9-track debut album Stoned & Supremely Confident set for release 8th September. The announcement is paired with the brand new single ‘Better Friends’, and accompanied by the official video.
Childe returns with the alternative melodic-pop offering, ‘Better Friends’. A track about sticking up for the people you love even when It gets ugly, this indie-pop anthem begins with Childe’s effortlessly catchy vocal delivery, backed by tranquil guitar chords, a perky ear-worm of a bass line, and a reverb-tinged organ. The follow-up track to the infectious lo-fi ‘Death Wish’, the innovative artist seamlessly weaves his voice of discomfort and pain throughout his sonic outputs as he touches on subjects very rarely captured by a male singer-songwriter. Sun-soaked and vivid, both tracks deliver haunting yet powerful emotional states that take the listener on a beguiling journey.
Listen to ‘Better Friends’:
Drawing influence across a wide range of artistic cultures – from modern literature to abstract painting, from FKA Twigs to Grayson Perry – he’s welcoming listeners into his world across this triumphant 9-track body of work. Written between London and LA with Danny Presant, the album is a snapshot into the artist’s often difficult life experiences, of over-medicating, mushroom trips, of heartache, the baby boomers and trying to be a better friend.
Using his voice as an instrument, his empathetic tones act as an open invitation to the mind of the artist as he touches on loneliness and depression, to heartache and frustration, but finding the beauty in all of it nonetheless. There is a real rawness at the core of everything Childe does, his live shows are a cathartic and therapeutic experience with his powerful, vulnerable and emotive voice captivating audiences far and wide. Having recently blown the crowds away at The Great Escape Festival in Brighton, as well as supporting Crooked Colours on their tour of Germany, Childe is steadily carving a name as one to watch in the pop sphere.
Childe is a refreshingly chaotic talent. You’ve likely never met anyone like him, and you probably never will. An artist built on impurities inspired by the edges of life, he uses his alter ego to express himself and harness the self-confidence that was often missing throughout childhood. Growing up with ADHD presented difficulties for the artist as he constantly battled an overactive mind he was unable to turn off.
Outside of music, his creative outlet reflects everything his music stands for: recently selected as one of four artists across different disciplines to appear in the latest Vivienne Westwood campaign, the collaboration stemmed from an alignment in spirit and the mutual desire to operate freely without having to fit into a box. With a string of festival dates lined up, Childe is ready to unleash his unique yet inclusive music to the world. Welcome to the beautiful chaos.
